Because it's been a while since I've posted a requisite pet picture to my blog.
My husband just sent me this:

(Incidentally, his boo-boo has healed since this pic was taken.)

Don't make the pumpkins angry.
Ever since his retirement, our Neighbor Across the Street has taken to decorating his yard for holidays with, shall we say, an extreme degree of enthusiasm. This time of year in particular, it can get a little disconcerting. I can't take Fizzgigg for a walk without the paranoid feeling that I'm being watched. Last year was the worst--there was a little sea of cute, happy scarecrows who looked ready to march on our house at the slightest neighborly indiscretion. This year's Pumpkin Head Army isn't quite as unintentionally frightening, but still... well, see for yourselves.

The pictures are blurry, but you get the idea. That is one heck of a lot of plastic pumpkins, yo. The kids seem to love it, though, and I guess that's the main thing.

TV Boyfriend ...Day: Dresden Edition
I recently finished listening to the audiobook version of Grave Peril, and I'm feeling a heaping helping of Harry Dresden love right now, hence this Dresden-themed edition of TV Boyfriend (not) Tuesday.

And it's totally not just an excuse to post more Marsters.

Okay, maybe it is a little.

Mmmm, cake
Yesterday was our first anniversary. In celebration, we chose to honor a seemingly inexplicable yet long-standing tradition and share a bite of our left-over wedding cake, which barely survived the long, hot drive home from Eureka Springs before getting crammed into the back of my mom's freezer and all but forgotten for an entire year.

Yum, right?

So we popped open the champagne (which we also bought last year, and after failing to get around to drinking it on our wedding weekend (I know, right?! But we had all kinds of champagne given to us that weekend, so...) we decided to save it for said anniversary) and, after a brief but hearty toast, we lifted our forks, kissed each other for luck, and took our obligatory bites of year-old, partially melted and then frozen, freshly thawed wedding cake.

Now for those of you who are as skeptical about the wisdom of this tradition as we were, let me just tell you this:

We ate the whole thing, and we liked it.

Wee little punk puppies!
"So what are you up to today, Jean?" some of you might be asking.

Making over my Etsy shop, if you must know, and updating it with my new Tiny Dog Threads. Because every tiny dog should have a hand-beaded Jolly Roger sweater, that's why.

Isn't that right, Fizzgigg?

TV Boyfriend Tuesday: The Hot Doctor Edition
Doctor who, you say?

Yes, please.

EIGHT

NINE

And just in case you still don't get the David Tennant thing:

Bonus! This comedy sketch with David Tennant and Catherine Tate (aka Donna) is the funniest thing I've seen in weeks. "Bite me, alien boy!" Heeeee!

TV Boyfriend Tuesday - Delayed Edition
I know, I know. It's Tuesday. So where's the pretty, Jean? Huh? WHERE ARE TEH PRETTY MENS?!!!

Well, today's payday, see, and I'm kinda preoccupied with straightening out my finances, plus I'm kinda swamped with work.

So TV Boyfriend Tuesday will actually be TV Boyfriend Wednesday this week. I'm sorry.

But here's a preview to tide you over:

Mmmm, Johnny.

That is all.

TV Boyfriend Tuesday: CSI Edition
Quoth Garnigal:
Oh, do a boys of CSI one. I'm more of an original CSI fan, but it never hurts to look at Adam Rodriguez, Jonathan Togo, Gary Sinise, Carmine Giovinazzo, Hill Harper, and Eddie Cahill. Yes, I know I left David Caruso out. That was on purpose.

Here you go, G. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

NEW YORK

Giovinazzo

Harper

Cahill

Sinise

Unsurprisingly, I had no trouble finding pics of Gary bringing teh sexay. The hard part was limiting it to only two.

MIAMI

Rodriguez

Togo

LAS VEGAS

G didn't specify any of the Vegas boys, but here they are anyway. There's a lot of pretty in Sin City.

Eads

Dourdan

Szmanda

Petersen

Yes, Petersen. Sure, Grishom is kinda crusty, and he could stand to lay off the Ding Dongs, but let's not forget that William Petersen was once a sweet little morsel of man-candy:

And that concludes this edition of TV Boyfriend Tuesday. As usual, you can leave a comment asking to see your own personal TV Boyfriends here in the future.

TV Boyfriend Tuesday: Reader Request Edition #1
I played hookie from blogging yesterday, as there were just too many other things going on. But today I'm back (huzzah!) and ready to get down to bidness.

Friend of the blog Valerie voted for her TV boyfriends*:
Jim Halpert (John Krasinksi from The Office)

Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni from L&O: SVU)

Gregory House (Hugh Laurie, House MD...yes, I know he's wicked older, but a hot older nonetheless...and he plays the piano-triples hotness quotient)

With that last, I totally agree. That's why this one will be a little House-heavy.

On to the eye candy!

JIM

STABLER

HOUSE

But first, let's remember where he came from:

On to the hot Doctor:

And the piano!

*Valerie also requested Jack and Sawyer, but I'm saving them for a Very Special Lost edition when we get closer to the season premiere.

That concludes this week's edition of TV Boyfriend Tuesday. As usual, if you would like to see your own personal TV Boyfriend(s) in this space, leave a request in the comments.

TV Boyfriend Tuesday #2: Bad Brit Boys of Sunnydale
I attended a local showing of the Buffy Singalong this weekend (more on that tomorrow), and this picture, one of my favorites from back in the day, kept going by on the preview screen and making me all nostalgic.

And so, full of renewed Spike love, and in honor of all of the work Marsters is getting lately, and in honor of the forthcoming Ripper movie, and as a reminder of why Alexis Denisof deserves to be so very much more than Mr. Allyson Hannigan, I bring you Sunnydale's British Hotties (ignoring the fact that two of them are faux-Brits).

I'll eschew commentary on this one (mostly) and just let all the pretty speak for itself.

SPIKE

JAMES

RIPPER

ALEXIS

SO James Bond

I wanted to include Prom Chaperone Giles in his tux for symmetry, but believe it or not, I couldn't find a picture. Sigh.

As usual, any requests to see your own personal TV Boyfriends can be left in the comments.

TV Boyfriend Tuesday #1: Supernatural Edition
It's time to up the shallowness quotient here at Sparkle Motion (is that even possible?) by introducing TV Boyfriend Tuesdays! This is intended to become a regular weekly feature, so if you'd like to see someone other than All James Marsters, All The Time, leave a comment to let me know who your TV Boyfriends are, and I'll see what I can dig up. Then we can all sit back and enjoy the eye candy.

I'm actually betraying my loyalty to my James for this first edition, because this interview with Eric Kripke (spoiler warning) has put me in a Supernatural kind of mood. Though, really, that's becoming increasingly easy to do these days. So without further ado, I present to you the pretty, squared.

The boys with guns. So intense! And intensely purty.

Another gun pick. I'm not sure what it says about me that I like the boys with the guns.

Guh. This one makes Jensen a contender for my new top TV boyfriend. Don't tell Spike!

As does this one. This is a pretty Dean-loaded post, isn't it? I'm sorry, Sammy fans. Maybe this last one will make it up to you (click to embiggen):

Guh. That is all.

***

Stay tuned for next TV Boyfriend Tuesday, when we can all ogle... who? I don't know yet. You tell me.

What price pet health?
Sponsored post alert!

I've been considering buying pet insurance for a while now, especially for Fizzgigg. As he gets older there are more and more occasions when I have to decide whether something is serious enough to warrant taking him to the vet, because we can't really afford it. I just received a free online quote, and the senior care coverage is a little high, but it would cover the tummy problems he's prone to having if they come up again (for the moment we appear to have them licked). Regular coverage is more affordable, and just having that would have saved me over fifty bucks when the cat accidentally clawed his eye last year.

I also see that they offer a ten percent discount for three or more pets, so we could get regular coverage for the cats and end up saving money for all three. Knowing our cats, having accident coverage on them wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

This is something I'll have to mull over and see whether we can really work it into the budget. But it's definitely something I would like to be able to do. I mean, just look at the little guy. Of course I want to do everything I can to ensure he lasts as long as possible.

I has a window!

Husband just sent me this pic of a butterfly hanging out on our bedroom window. I like how the screen makes it look pixelated.

That's a nice little dose of pretty.

What it's all about.
Remember this wee slip of a premie that was once my grandneice Dakota? Well, here's the cutie-pie today, all 11 months and twenty-some-odd pounds of her.

She'll celebrate her first birthday in a few weeks. God is good, y'all.
