Sparkle Motion: in which the author chronicles her various obsessions and the distractions that get her through her day. Most of which involve television.
I'm still caught up in NaNo madness. I wanted to post 13 things I'm grateful for, tomorrow being Thanksgiving and all, but I'm trying to get ahead in my word count so I can just focus on food and family tomorrow, so just fill in the usual options: husband, health, family, pets, good job, great friends (who I don't talk to nearly enough), good TV, etc.
I'm also thankful that we're about to be let out of work for the day, which means I can hang out here and have two hours of uninterrupted writing time.
And I'm outie for the next four days. Have a great holiday, or if you're outside the US, have a great weekend. See you Monday.
I've been procrastinating on today's NaNo session by reading Lipstick On My Scholar, a thoughtful and occasionally witty essay in defense of C.S. Lewis (responding to Pullman, et al) and the controversial ending he devised for poor, worldly Susan.
No time to hunt down and post any eye candy today, but that's okay, 'cause Fenwic's got me covered. Mmm, Jensen.
I'm taking a quick break from Nano to answer a survey for an undisclosed research firm. One of the questions is (paraphrasing) why do you feed dog food to your dog?
Er. To... feed him? So that he doesn't keel over from starvation and die?
I finally have a break in my day long enough to eke out a few NaNo words. Which means there won't be much in the way of content today, folks. And so I leave you with this (via Scalzi), which made my whole day:
In case you haven't figured it out yet (and if my Sitemeter reports are any indication, you haven't; neither has anybody else), I'm blogging about my NaNo progress, such as it is, over at Jean Writes Genre.
Cook your bratwursts thoroughly, people. Trust me on this one.
When blood shows up, just go ahead and go to the hospital. Don't wait it out hoping it will get better on it's own. All that does is prolong the agony.
When I told my mom that I can't imagine childbirth being as painful as that experience, she laughed and said I'm in for a rude awakening. But then I was told that Jane Seymore said the same thing about her food poisoning last week, and she's given birth to TWINS, so I think she should know.
Ambulances are roomier inside than I expected.
Here's a fun piece of trivia I picked up at the ER: apparently redheaded women are, like, super-bleeders.
I was treated in the same "resuscitation room" they put me in after my fainting spell, which means I once again had the pleasure of staring at the same Golden Plastic Jesus on the wall whilst I floated away into drug-induced bliss.
Antibiotics are a blessing for which I shall ever be grateful.
Ditto strong painkillers.
A diet of Gatorade and soup gets old pretty fast.
The sympathy of co-workers gets stretched pretty thin when you visit the ER twice within a month.
With husbands it's less so, but I did have to give him a pass on accompanying me on the next non-life-threatening trip to the ER if it occurs when he has a test to study for and a ton of homework to get done.
Of course I completely understand his frustration, because this whole thing seriously cut into my NaNo time.
But I'm feeling much better now.

Fresh from the Season 3 Veronica Mars DVDs comes footage of the sorta-pilot for Rob Thomas's planned re-vamp of the show that would have fast-forwarded Veronica several years into her future working for the FBI. I haven't watched it yet, but word is that the new premise could have been awesome.
And he's bringing Tim Minear and Eliza Dushku with him. The only thing keeping my squee in check? They'll be on FOX. New folks in charge, seven episode commitment and apparent promises of treating him right this time aside, that makes me trepidatious as all get-out. But even so: NEW JOSS WHEDON TV SERIES, YOU GUYS!!! OMGZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
